Dick Smith report online sales surge up 47%
Today Dick Smith announced to the market that Australian like-for-like sales for the third quarter grew 2.4 per cent to $238.4 million. The interesting part of this report was the continued online sales component. Also of interest is the development of omni-channel and click and collect online e-commerce sales channels.
CEO Mr. Abboud in an ASX Announcement released today April 17, 2014 reported and identified online reasons for this growth.

Omni online sales channel:
“Our omni‐channel performance was another highlight during the quarter. With online sales growing 47% to approximately 4% of retail sales. During the quarter, we expanded our offer into Westfield and e-bay. This expansion, combined with our existing websites and our online capability, supports our omni‐channel offer and allows us to compete strongly with pure online retailers. We are continuing to expand our store fulfilment capability”.

It also seems that a “click-and-collect” sales channel concept is also starting to gain traction with many Australian retailers.
“We anticipate that by June 2014, our store fulfilment will provide our customers with the flexibility of quicker and cheaper local delivery or click and collect in each of our 368 stores.”
